April 2026 • Volume 003

Spring has arrived in the gallery. The shift from winter into the early signs of summer feels especially real this year and I can see it in the work. Something has changed in the studio, a renewed sense of energy, of movement, of color and it’s beginning to show up on the canvas in a way that feels both instinctive and intentional. It feels good to be back in the gallery, sharing what I’m working on, reshaping the space and of course, connecting.

The Treasure Auction

The most recent auction carried a different kind of  energy. The addition of a preview period created a new level of anticipation and while we’ll refine the timing moving forward, it was exciting to see how people engaged across platforms, in the gallery, online, through Instagram and in conversation. What continues to interest me is not just the outcome, but the interaction how people respond to the work when they’re given the space to experience it.

As the gallery shifted in the days that followed, works leaving, others coming forward, I was struck by a feeling of both clarity and momentum. A sense of reset, but also of direction. It was especially meaningful to see a strong response to the newer work. Pieces like Wallflowers Orange, One Hand on the Eject Button and In The Swells seems to resonate in a way that signals where things are heading.

After fourteen years, I’m beginning to understand the cadence more clearly, when to release work, when to step back, when to gather and when to let things unfold. This, alongside KRSTN Editions, feels like the beginning of something more fully realized.

A Gallery Dinner

You’ll receive an invitation this week to join me and fellow members for a small dinner in the gallery. An evening to gather, share a meal and spend time with the work in a more relaxed setting. These moments I think will become an important part of how this community takes shape over time.

Current Influences

On Holiday: An Artist Residency

In a few weeks, I’ll be traveling for a series of experiences I expect will shape the next body of work. A visit to La Colombe d’Or in Saint-Paul-de-Vence, a place where art and daily life have existed side by side for decades, followed by time in Ischia, where I’ll be painting for a newly opened property set into the landscape with gardens and sculptures throughout.

The intention is to create work that becomes part of that environment, not separate from it, but embedded within it as the start of the permanent painting collection I am meant to design while on site.

From there, I’ll continue on to the Venice Biennale, where I’ve been invited to join a small gathering of artists and curators. These kinds of moments tend to shift perspective in the most lasting of ways.

Inspired by conversations with a few long-time clients, I’ll also be offering a limited number of commissions connected to this trip, work shaped directly by place, light and experience.

Looking Ahead

This report will continue to evolve each month, sometimes more personal, sometimes more observational, but always grounded in what is actually unfolding in real time. Because the most compelling collections and the most meaningful spaces, are not assembled quickly. They are built over time, through intention and a willingness to engage more deeply.

Thank you for being here at the beginning of this.

With intention,
Kristen
